1. ) Promoting Your Brand

Remember the importance of branding. If you haven’t already initiated a brand for your company, now might be just the time. Use these simple techniques in the promotion of your special brand.
Make your brand as unique as possible. Catch the eye of the public by creating something different- something that people have not yet seen. Instead of doing what has already been done, go the opposite direction and be creative. Don’t forget the legal dangers of copyright infringement related to borrowing or stealing from another firm’s design.
Display stability. Take time in the development process to establish your brand and accomplish the look you really want. It’s better to spend sufficient time in the beginning fine-tuning your design to the desired outcome, rather than to play with it after it’s been revealed to the public. Changing your brand, and all that’s involved with it, including colors, slogans, logos, and tag lines, doesn’t support an image of reliability and long-lasting business success.
Stability should be maintained with branding. If you have integrated a brand into your company’s marketing, then use it all over the place. It should appear on all of your marketing materials, business cards, web site, and printed items. The same is true for your packaging. Your brand should appear on all of your products. .
Give your brand away to the public with diverse promotional products. You can help your brand to saturate the consumer population by handing out precious, yet low-cost, items. Promotional products encourage possible customers to keep in mind your brand and your gift every time they are used. Consider useful devices such as letter openers, flashlights, first aid kits, and CD cases.
Brands are an extremely effective marketing tool. When working with your concept, consider the above to ensure the development of an effective brand.

3. ) Disappointing Test Results?

(Here’s an email I received from John Taylor where he is making the point about how important Testing and Tracking really is for success in Internet Marketing.)

In my last email I mentioned my passion for testing and tracking and how, over all the years I’ve been involved in Internet Marketing, I’ve developed a huge database of
results.
With online traffic becoming increasingly more costly, it’s critically important to optimize your sales funnel. Our primary objective is to make a profit. And that involves getting the best possible return on our investment.
It doesn’t matter if your investment is your valuable time or your hard earned cash… you still need to make the best use of that investment.
And that’s why it’s important to track everything and to test for improvement. We need to remove anything that gets in the way and we need to get the best possible click through rate at every single stage in our sales funnel.
Here’s an example…
A couple of days ago I came across an innovative new WordPress plug in that offers a completely different way of building a targeted list.
So, I decided to set it up and test it with some targeted traffic. You can see the plugin in action here: == http://MarketingConfidential.com
As you can see, it’s a Squeeze Page with a Facebook Connect button rather than a traditional opt-in box.

Anyway, I digress, back to the test…
I’m guessing the theory is that there’s less friction when there’s no need for the prospective subscriber to enter any data at all. (Removing obstacles is a good move right?)
The plugin uses a Facebook developer key (Which is very easy to set up) and the aWeber api to seamlessly add the subscriber to both Facebook and to your aWeber account.
There is a downside… your subscriber still needs to open the welcome email and click the confirmation link. And, we all know that not everyone will confirm a subscription unless you encourage them.
In my initial test I got 1045 unique visitors to the page, 540 people clicked the connect button and 426 people clicked the confirmation link in the welcome email.
To be honest, I was disappointed to see that 114 people didn’t confirm their subscriptions.
Clearly, I need to make a change to the process to get more people to click the confirmation link.
Do you see how important it is to track your results? That data has pinpointed exactly where I need to pay attention…
I’m losing too many potential subscribers by not having a page that tells them what to do.
It’s an easy change to make. I also have a couple of ideas that should push up the click through rate on the squeeze page too.
I believe in aiming high… My target is an 80% sign up rate. That will be a big improvement on the existing 40.8% conversion rate. 😉
It’s pretty easy to set up the plug in. It comes with a full set of instructions and video tutorials covering every step. Once I’d reviewed the Everything in 15 minutes video
overview, it took me around 20 minutes to install and configure everything.
